I'm finally taking the time to sit down and put my new knitting blog together. Forgive me if it's a little rough around the edges but I'm a newbie at blogs. I'll be working on improving the graphics and layout as I go.
I've only started knitting this year and want to keep track of my progress from a beginner's point of view. When I've looked at the patterns and designs that are available it makes me want to take up basket weaving instead! Who wants to decipher a 2 page pattern for a sweater when I can buy one already made up that looks comparable to what I want? After all, isn't this supposed to be about creativity and the zenness feeling that knitting is supposed to give oneself? Like a Calgon bath commercial?
I remember my grandma knitting and she tried to teach me on several occasions. Of course I was a hopeless student and couldn't even end a row and turn it! Since then I've taught myself to cast on and knit and cast off from a kit I got for Christmas. I can now complete whats known as a garter stich!!
My first project was the hairy scarf that came with the kit. Luckily that furry yarn didn't show my many blunders. But the scarf did look like a stripper's boa when I finished it, I'm had a pole installed in my bedroom to match it, maybe that will help me be more zen... at least I'll get more excersise.
